Still Family // San Anselmo, CA

It's always such a great honor to know that I am going to be someones very first FAMILY photographer. Of course, the pressure is always on, too! Making sure that every client receives the very best I have to offer and leaving them in awe today, tomorrow and hopefully in 50 years when they look back at such special moments in their lives.

I'm always waiting anxiously to hear back from my clients, to make sure they are happy. Because really, my job doesn't just end when I leave the session or even when I'm done editing. My job is complete when I know my clients are happy. This peace of mind lets me sleep at night! But honestly, when I get a response like this moms response, It brings me so much joy and lasts for so long. Mom writes:

"Honestly Kandace, these are some of the best photos we've EVER had taken of us. Thank you so much! Some of the images bring tears to our eyes...Kandace, these are absolutely GORGEOUS!!! And done so quickly! THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for taking such care in capturing our family. We ADORE these!"

Maisie's Newborn Docustyle Session // Berkeley, Ca

It was a cool overcast day as I headed out to Berkeley, Ca for a newborn docustyle session which I had been looking forward to for almost 2 months (since baby Maisie was born!). Alisen & Eric (mom & dad) had previously done a maternity session with me on a rainy/overcast day (see here), so it was fitting to have Maisie's newborn shoot on such a similar kind of day. Who needs the sun anyways? The light ended up being absolutely gorgeous in their home.

What's really amazing about these types of (docustyle) sessions is that we don't need to have newborns "cooperate" for the shoot. Honestly, that's silly to expect from newborns in general. Maisie wanted to eat almost the entire session and we still pulled off amazing content. The genuine love and realness that Alisen & Eric showed me was enough to make a gallery where even I cried while look through.

Besides wanting to eat on demand, Maisie's session consisted of a bath, spending time alone with dad and then with mom and even gave us the giggles when what we thought at the time was a blowout ;)

Details. Love. Interaction. And pure realness are what make such an amazing final gallery. Thank you Eric, Alisen & Maisie for welcoming me into your space and allowing me to document such a beautiful stage in your lives. ~K
